Under the supervision of the Program Director, a faculty member plans and implements approved curriculum and educational programs for students within their qualifying area of expertise. Faculty also assist the Program Director/Director of Education in implementing initiatives aimed at meeting retention, completion and placement rates in accordance with outcome expectations and regulatory compliance requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Present curriculum as stated in the course syllabus.
2. Develop lesson plans using various teaching
3. Distribute and explain course syllabus, addendum, and related policies and procedures to students during the first scheduled class session.
4. Enforce school policies and procedures as outlined in the student handbook.
5. Conduct classroom learning experiences with applicable procedures by:
- Serving as moderator/facilitator
- Presenting lectures and demonstrations
- Conducting approved field trips
- Performing labs and activities
- Hosting guest speakers.
6. Prepare, administer, and assess student progress based upon course objectives and provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
7. Meet established performance metrics related to attendance, attrition and student satisfaction.
8. Discourage student withdrawal, by:
- Identifying at risk students
- Reporting attendance and academic concerns promptly
- Providing a caring and supportive learning environment
- Relating current learning to student’s career and employer expectations
- Providing tutoring and advising as necessary.
9. Begin and end each class at the designated times, providing a full period of meaningful instruction with ten-minute break for every fifty minutes of instruction.
10. Call all students who are absent and document interactions as directed.
11. Relay pertinent information related to student issues to the Program Director/Director of Education/SSC.
12. Substitute for other instructors as needed.
13. If online instructor, observe and follow all policies as outlined for online instructors.
1. Participate in the ongoing review and feedback regarding the curriculum.
2. Attend bi-annual occupational advisory committee meetings.
1. Attend new instructor training, departments meetings, graduation, and other trainings as directed.
2. Attend in-services and complete professional development requirements in accordance with school policy.
3. Maintain professional certification as required by the field.
4. Maintain accurate attendance, evaluation records, and grades, and submit according to campus guidelines.
5. Dress and act professionally in accordance with employee expectations.
6. Return calls and respond appropriately and promptly to requests for assistance.
7. Check e-mail daily and respond within 24 hours.
8. Meet deadlines as assigned.
9. Maintain classroom equipment and supplies as directed.
10. Maintain student confidentiality as outlined by FERPA regulations.
11. Maintain compliance with OSHA standards.
12. Mentor other instructors as requested by administration.
13. Assist Administration/Program Directors with projects associated with the successful growth and retention of the school.
D. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years hands on experience in the Paralegal area – preferably in a law firm
- Associates Degree or higher
- Experience should include drafting of discovery requests and responses, pleadings, heavy client communication, trial preparation and attendance.
- Exceptional social and customer focused skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies.
- Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs.
- Teaching and facilitation skills.
- Ability to teach and control the behavior of students.
- Knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/classroom work environment.
- May be required to travel to different sites according to class schedules.
- Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to stand or walk for entire class periods (approx. 4.5 hours at one time).
